This was the first full week of school for the boys, and it wiped all of us out! After more than three months of not having to make lunches every weekday, this week was a sudden jolt back to reality. 😉 That being said, I did have fun putting food together for Jack, and my usual tricks (using cookie cutters to shape sandwiches, the cute little picks for fruit) are novel again.
Monday’s snack was Ritz crackers and a mini Babybel with a “J” carved into the wax.
Lunch, packed in an EasyLunchbox, was two dinosaur PB&Js on wheat, oranges, and grape tomatoes.
Tuesday, Jack brought snack in his new PlanetBox Shuttle (watermelon and pretzel Goldfish):
Lunch, in a bigger PlanetBox, was a couple of rice people (made with a mold that my mom gave me). I made them with brown rice with spam and cucumber filling. I also put in grape tomatoes, cucumber hearts with homemade thousand island dressing for dipping, apple slices, a banana, and a macadamia nut Hershey’s Kiss for dessert.
Wednesday’s snack was green grapes (the sweetest I’ve ever had! They’re like candy. Actually, they’re almost too sweet) and graham crackers.
Jack’s lunch was five mini PB&Js, made with a new sandwich sealer I got, steamed broccoli and baby carrots, pretzel goldfish, emerald plum wedges (with a single strawberry to fill in the gap between the wedges), and dark chocolate-covered blueberries.
Derek also stayed at preschool for lunch on Wednesday. He got five mini PB&J sandwiches (just like Jack), baby carrots, watermelon, and emerald plum wedges.
Thursday, Jack’s snack was green grapes and granola.
Lunch was two turkey and cheese star-shaped sandwiches, pretzel goldfish, and white nectarine wedges.
Derek again stayed for lunch, and he requested the same mini PB&J sandwiches as he got Wednesday. I also put in baby carrots (his latest obsession) and chunks of white nectarine.
Today, Jack wants to buy lunch at school (it’s pizza day!), and Derek’s not staying for lunch, so I only had to prepare Jack’s snack. He’s bringing golden kiwi slices, nectarines, and some multigrain chips.
Have great weekends, everyone!
