Bentos, Snacks

TGIF! Lunch and Snack Round-Up for 10/8-10/12

Yet another week has flown by! Here’s what was in the boys’ snack and lunch bags this week.

Jack didn’t have school on Monday, but Derek’s preschool was in session. I took advantage of the rare alone time with Jack to take him to the aquarium and out to lunch, and sent Derek to preschool with lunch instead (so that Jack and I didn’t have to rush back for a noon pickup). Derek brought leftovers from our cookout dinner the night before:

The top tier of his bento box held cut-up hot dogs with a container of ketchup for dipping. The middle tier had tangerine wedges, and the bottom tier had vegetables. Yum!

Tuesday, Jack brought some homemade pumpkin bread and cut-up apples for snack.

Lunch was some chicken curry with rice in a Thermos, along with a container of cut-up pears.

Wednesday’s snack was a smoothie and some white cheddar popcorn. Lunch, packed in an EasyLunchbox, was two dinosaur PB&Js, tangerine wedges, shredded cheese (Jack loves it), cut-up apples, and for a treat, Halloween Joe-Joes from Trader Joe’s.

Seriously, how cute are the Joe-Joes???

Thursday’s snack was peach wedges (the last of the summer’s white peaches! So sad) and some pretzels.

Lunch was a little sub-par because I ran out of time! Jack brought a star-shaped roast beef sandwich, bell pepper and cucumber sticks, emerald plum wedges and more Joe-Joes.

Today Jack’s buying lunch at school, but for snack, he took a container of golden kiwi and some homemade Star Wars sugar cookies (I put them in his reusable snack bag after taking the picture).

Derek’s staying for lunch again today. Usually I just have him stay on Fridays, but when I asked him if he wanted to stay again today (after staying on Monday), he said yes. So, he took a heart-shaped Nutella and sliced banana sandwich, strawberries, pretzels and roast beef slices, rolled up and threaded on Halloween cupcake picks. I would have sent him with some Star Wars cookies, too, but his preschool doesn’t allow sweets or candies to be packed in the kids’ lunches, so he’ll just have them when he comes home. I thought the Nutella in the sandwich would be enough of a treat — that’s like a dessert!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
