TGIF! Lunch and Snack Round Up for 9/27-9/28

Here’s what was in Jack’s snack and lunch bags the last couple of days:

Thursday’s snack was, in retrospect, very monochromatic — fresh pineapple chunks and Pirate’s Booty. He loved it, though!

Thursday’s lunch was an assortment of transportation-shaped PB&J sandwiches (I got this nifty sandwich cutter that uses the entire sandwich to produce several vehicles), with some unsweetened dried mango to fill in the extra space. The bottom tier of the box had strawberries, a tangerine and some apple wedges. This was one of my “ack, I have no time!” lunches, so things were a little haphazardly thrown together.

Today’s snack is sure to be a hit: a handful of homemade sugar cookies, cut into mini autumn leaf shapes, and emerald plum wedges. I don’t like to send Jack to school with cookies or other sweets, but it’s Friday — a treat is called for. 😉 Yum!

Jack also requested to buy lunch today (he’s decided he wants to buy every Friday; last week he said the school lunch pizza was the “hardest” he’d ever had, but he thought it was really cool to put your food on a tray and use the debit card. Ha! Just wait until you actually have to earn the money that’s linked to your debit card, mister!), so no picture of his lunch. Derek, however, is staying for lunch at preschool again this Friday. I’m volunteering with the Magic in Music program at Jack’s school, for his classroom, and I have a training meeting that runs through Derek’s usual noon pickup time. He loved staying for lunch last week, so it should go well. I made Derek a make-your-own Lunchables:

He has Ritz crackers, cheese slices cut into apple shapes, rolled-up roast beef slices, and Pirate’s Booty filling in the gaps. The top tier of the box has sliced strawberries. When Jack saw this lunch, he momentarily regretted his decision to buy lunch today. What a compliment! 🙂

I hope you all have terrific weekends. I know I will! My birthday is Sunday, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my 22nd birthday, we have many fun gatherings planned with friends and family. Catch you all next week!
