Valentine’s Day Pizza

This Valentine’s Day pizza is yet another idea from the awesome blog Cute Food For Kids (seriously, she’s so prolific, and everything she makes looks amazing). All you need are ready-to-bake pizza crusts (such as Boboli’s), pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices. It also helps to have the ability to strategically place the pepperoni slices so they resemble a heart shape — a skill I lack, as you’ll see. But, even if it doesn’t come out perfectly, this is still fun to make with your kids!

Valentine’s Day Pizza

  • Pizza crust (I took the easy way out and used Boboli’s ready-to-bake 8-inch mini crusts)
  • Pizza sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices (to cut down on the calories, I used turkey pepperoni)

Place the pizza crust on a cookie sheet. Spread the pizza sauce on the crust, then sprinkle the cheese liberally over the sauce. Arrange your pepperoni slices so that they form a heart shape (the original post provides a good guide).

Arrange pepperoni slices on top of the cheese to form a heart shape. Don't laugh at my attempt! It looks better after baking.

Although the turkey pepperoni was healthier than traditional pepperoni, the slices are much thinner and prone to flipping up at the edges, so it was harder to get the heart shape. If you don’t mind a few extra calories (c’mon! It’s a holiday! It’s a fun meal for the kiddos!), I might recommend traditional slices just so you have an easier time getting the slices to lie flat.

Bake the pizza according to package instructions. I baked my 8″ mini pizzas in a preheated 450-degree oven for 10 minutes.

Ta-da! I think it looks more like a heart after baking. Oh, those are mini pepperoni slices in the middle. I had some rolling around in the meat drawer and decided to use them up.

Serve these with a salad and some fruit for a fun Valentine’s Day lunch or dinner with your little loves. Enjoy!
